Where your words go

Shownote records what your microphone hears. Here is what happens to it.

  • No bot in the call

Shownote listens through your own device's microphone. Nothing joins the meeting.

  • Tell people first

Let everyone know before you press Record. In many places the law requires it.

  • Notes in your accounts

Saved notes go to your own Drive or Notion. Unsaved ones stay on your device for 30 days.

  • What is sent, and why

Audio streams to speech recognition and is not kept on Shownote's servers. The transcript goes to Claude, by Anthropic, to write the questions, reads and notes.

Questions

Does a bot join my call?

No. Shownote listens through your microphone, so nothing appears in the participant list.

Does it work in person and on video calls?

Both, as long as your microphone can hear everyone. On a call with headphones on, it hears only you.

Can one meeting mix languages?

Yes. Leave the language on auto and Shownote follows the switches, for example between English and Chinese. It can also translate the transcript into 25 languages.

Will the other people know I'm recording?

Only if you tell them, so tell them. Shownote has no bot or banner in the call.

Where are my notes saved?

In Google Drive, Notion or a Markdown file, wherever you turn on. Until you save, the note stays on your device for 30 days.

How much does it cost?

Shownote is a paid service. For now it is open by invitation; request an invite on this page.

Is there an iPhone app?

Yes, for iPhone and Apple Watch, and it is coming to the App Store. Until then, invited accounts use Shownote in the browser.

What if the connection drops?

Shownote reconnects on its own. The iPhone keeps recording and holds up to five minutes of audio to send when it is back; Apple Watch can record on its own.

Ready when you are.

Shownote is invite only for now. Leave your email to request one.
